It's made without many of the strange additions and shortcuts you can find in some borscht soups I've spelled this as Borscht with a T on the end, but phonetically in Russian and Ukrainian, it's pronounced and spelled Borsch.
Steps to make Borsch/Борщ (beet soup):
- Ingredients.
- Slice an onion and a carrot.
- Slice beets. Keep the soup in the can.
- Dice beef and stir fry it lightly with tallow. Add salt and pepper if you like.
- Put beef in a bowl and stir fry sliced onion and carrot until the colour changes.
- Ad water and beef consommé(600ml in total) and boil it for 30mins-1h.
- Add sour cream and dill weed. Squeeze a lemon if you like. Bon appétit!
Add cubed potatoes in the boiling broth. Add the stewed beet when the broth begins to boil again. The Russian word for borsch is борщ. However the letter 'щ' doesn't exist in English and you may. As well as beetroot, hot Borsch can also include beans, cabbage, carrots and potatoes, or meats like chicken or beef.
