The ingredients needed to make Bread Upma:
  1. Make ready 8-10 slices bread
  2. Take 3 tbsp curd
  3. Take 1 large chopped onion or 2 medium chopped onions
  4. Take 1 large chopped tomato
  5. Prepare 1 big pc finely chopped ginger
  6. Make ready 4-5 slit green chillies
  7. Get 25-30 peanuts (optional)
  8. Get 1 tsp urad dal
  9. Make ready 3 tbsp oil
  10. Take 1 tsp mustard seeds
  11. Get to taste Salt
  12. Make ready 1 handful curry leaves
Instructions to make Bread Upma:
  1. Crumble bread into small chunks using fingers.
  2. Beat curd and salt together and mix well with the crumbled bread. Make sure it is not too soggy or watery.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai. Add urad dal and mustard seeds.
  4. Once the mustard pops, add in curry leaves, green chillies and ginger.
  5. Add in chopped onions and peanuts and fry till translucent. You need not brown the onions.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes and salt. Remember that we have added salt in the bread also, so adjust accordingly.
  7. Once the tomatoes are mushy, add the soaked bread. Stir well to mix. Reduce the flame to 'LOW' and leave it for 5-10 minutes so that the bread will brown slightly and raw smell of curd will disappear. Don't forget to stir every 2 minutes.
