- Prepare 2tbsp garlic finely chopped
- Prepare 1/2 tsp haldi / turmeric powder
- Prepare 1 tsp chilli powder
- Prepare 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- Take 1 tbsp coriander powder
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Make ready as needed For serving:- kadhi, pickle, salad and papad
Instructions to make Kathiyavadi Ram Khichdi:
- Clean wash and soak dals and rice for 15 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
- Meanwhile heat the ghee in pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf, dry red chilli, kali mirch.
- When the cumin seeds crackle add curry leaves, green chilli and hing.
- Add onions, garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add all the chopped vegetable and all spice powder and saute for on a medium flame for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the rice and dals and salt and saute on a medium flame for another 2 minutes.
- Add 4 cups of hot water, mix well and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and mix well.
- Serve hot with kadhi, papad, salad and pickle
