  11. Prepare 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  12. Get 1 tbsp. jaggery / sugar (I used brown sugar)
  13. Get Tempering -
  14. Get 1 tbsp. oil
  15. Prepare 1 tbsp. ghee
  16. Get 1 tsp. mustard seeds
  17. Get 1 sprig curry leaves
  18. Take 10-15 roasted cashews
  19. Get as needed coriander leaves to garnish
  20. Make ready 1 tsp. extra ghee to garnish
  21. Prepare Bisi Bele Bath Masala (Spice Mix)
  22. Take 6-7 dry red chilies
  23. Get 2 tbsp. coriander seeds
  24. Prepare 1 tbsp. cumin seeds
  25. Make ready 1/2 tsp. fenugreek seeds
  26. Take 1 tsp. mustard seeds
  27. Make ready 2 tbsp. desiccated coconut
  28. Prepare 2 tbsp. urad dal (split black gram)
  29. Get 2 tbsp. chana dal (Bengal Gram)
  30. Get 2 inch cinnamon stick
  31. Make ready 5-6 green cardamoms
  32. Prepare 8-10 cloves
  33. Get pinch salt

Its a delicious and complete meal with the balance of vegetables, lentils and rice. Bisi bela bath - a delicious meal comprising of rice, lentils and vegetables. Steps to make Bisi Bela Bath:
  1. Soak the rice and tuvar dal for an hour. Pressure cook in 3 1/2 cups water for 10 minutes on a low flame after the first whistle.
  2. Chop all the veggies. Pressure cook in 1 cup water for one whistle.
  3. Heat oil and ghee in a pan. Add onion, ginger and green chilies. Saute till light brown.
  4. Add the boiled rice-dal, boiled veggies, salt and sugar. Mix well.
  5. Add the bisi bele bath masala and 1 - 1 & 1/2 cups hot water. Simmer for 4-5 minutes on a low flame.
  6. For the tempering - Heat oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds. After it stops spluttering add the curry leaves. Stir for a while and pour this on the prepared Bisi Bele Bath.
  7. Garnish with cashews, ghee & coriander leaves. Serve with papad or chips.
  8. Bisi Bele Bath Masala (Spice Mix) - - In a pan dry roast all the above mentioned ingredients (except coconut) for 1-2 minutes or till you get a nice aroma coming through.
  9. Now add the desiccated coconut and salt. Switch off the flame and keep stirring for another minute.
  10. Transfer to a plate and allow it to cool. Then grind to a fine powder.
  11. Your Bisi Bele Bath masala is ready. Store in an airtight container.
