Heat oil in Dutch oven and brown chicken on all sides. I remove the chicken from the pot and then add onions, chiles and garlic and saute a couple of minutes to soften. Make this easier version of chili verde using chicken and a tomatillo-based green salsa instead of roasting and pureeing fresh tomatillos. Note that this is a green chili made with chicken and not a chili made with green chicken.

- Grind onion,ginger, coriander ,chillies,garlic and salt together.
- Add the chicken to this mixture and let the chicken marinate for atleast half an hour.
- Heat oil in a wok, add cumin seeds,when they start changing colour add turmeric powder
- Now add the marinated chicken and choped green chillies and mix well. To this add coriander powder and roasted cumin powder.
- Now add garam masala..adjust seasoning and add 1 1/2 cup water. Cover and cook till chicken is soft.
You can serve it with sour cream, avocado, cilantro, and corn tortillas or corn bread. Green chilly chicken is a simple and easy chicken curry yet slightly spicy; made with green chilly and a bunch of greens. A perfect side dish for roti/Indian flatbread, bhatura, plain rice, or even just plain bread. Mint leaves, coriander leaves, and green chillies are the base for this curry and yogurt make the chicken tender and juicy.lastly, butter makes it more flavorsome. Return the chicken to the pot and add the green chile peppers, habanero chile peppers, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, tomatoes and potatoes.
