Even though I cook and have shared many Saag recipes on the. In this palak paneer recipe, I have not blanched the spinach to prevent loss of nutrients. In most Indian recipes spinach is not blanched and used directly to make dal palak, spinach paratha, palak rice, spinach omelette, aloo palak and many other recipes as some nutrients are lost when blanched. Palak saag recipe is a spinach curry made with spinach, maize flour and some basic spices.
Instructions to make Palak (spinach) saag recipe:
- Take a pan and tamper the cumin seeds.
- Add mustard oil in the same pan followed by chopped onion, green chilli and chopped garlic.
- Add mustard powder mix it well, when it turns golden brown then add boiled spinach. (Note: you can use non boiled spinach leaves also but for saving time I'm using boiled spinach leaves.)
- Mix all the ingredients and with the help of spoon keep stirring it.
- After 10 to 15 minutes turn off the flame and serve it.
It is really easy to prepare at home. My mother in law is big fan of these saag recipes. She prepares palak saag with half spinach leaves and half chenopodium leaves which also tastes very flavorful but. Palak Paneer is creamy spinach dish with paneer.
