Its a delicious and complete meal with the balance of vegetables, lentils and rice. Bisi bela bath means "Hot Lentil Rice" in Kannada. Bisi bele bath is dal and rice cooked together with tamarind and spice powders. As the name suggests it has to be served hot.

Instructions to make Bisi Bela Bath/Hot Lenthil Rice:
  1. Heat saucepan.Add all the dry masala one by one and lastly add small pieces of coconut and roast it till it becomes brittle.Add little curry leaves also. Then allow it to cool. Make coarse powder and keep it aside.
  2. Soak rice and dal for some time. Then pressure cook them seperately.
  3. Chop all the vegetables and pressure cook with very little water for one whistle.
  4. Heat oil in Saucepan.Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, and some broken cashew nuts and fry till the turns golden.
  5. Add cooked vegetables and tamrind juice and mix well. Allow it boil then add cooked dal and mix well.Add cooked rice and after mixing add the ground masala and add some water and cook for some time.
  6. Add ghee on the top and serve hot with papad.
